- _s_y_s_m_o_n_p_p is a syslogd filter which looks for syslog messages that are of
- interest to the Desktop user and notifies the Desktop which then alerts
- the user. The Desktop program imdmonitor(1M) must be running to receive
- the notification. This is normally started as part of the IRIX
- Interactive Desktop (IID).

- To enable notification for any messages below critical priority, edit
- /etc/syslog.conf. This is not done by default to reduce the performance
- impact on the system. If the System Monitor software (sysmon) is not
- installed, users may want to remove the sysmonpp line from
- /etc/syslog.conf.
